To improve the future of animal healthcare and well-being, Anil Agarwal Foundation launched TACO in 2022.
It is a unique animal welfare project which is providing world-class infrastructure, veterinary services, a training facility, and animal shelters to heal and protect animals.
One of the main focus areas of TACO is to foster humane handling and high-quality veterinary care for India’s abundant street and domesticated animals. TACO aims to create access to the best medical practices, medicine, and trained professionals to help animals in need. Stray and abandoned animals are often sick and malnourished, through our initiative we will seek out and rescue abandoned and stray animals and provide them with a decent life by providing food, medical care, and shelter.

- TACO pledged Rs 1 crore grant to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve to set up anti-poaching camps & procure surveillance vehicles.
Disaster Relief Efforts
- Fed stray animals during Covid 19 through local animal welfare organizations and animal feeders
- Flood relief and rescue activities for animals and community in flood affected villages in Faridabad, Haryana
- Fed the stray animals affected by Delhi NCR floods through local animal welfare organization
Veterinary Training Academy
- Training given to community on pilot basis

- Celebration of International Dog Day by felicitating the heroes feeding over 400 dogs daily
- Conducted Walkathon & launched #waterbowlchallenge during summers with the students of Social Work, Delhi University to raise awareness on animal welfare
- Joined hands with Bhumi Pednekar’s Climate Warrior to conduct walkathon & launch #waterbowlchallenge at Mumbai
- Provided water bowls and urged people to look after the stray animals by providing them with water during summers
Community Engagement Activities
- Conducted tree plantation drive, drawing competition, awareness sessions on prevention of animal cruelty with school children
Employee Engagement
- Celebration of World Rabies Day by vaccinating stray dogs against Rabies & collaring them at 11 business unit locations of Vedanta & at TACO Shelter
- Celebrated International Tiger Day at various Business Units & Nand Ghars
- Freedom from Hunger campaign launched at business units urging employees to feed the stray animals
- #waterbowlchallenge initiated at business units and Nand Ghars to provide drinking water to animals during scorching heat
Partnerships
- Partnered with Fujifilm for health screening of the cattle housed at the shelter
- Partnered with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for setting up Bio gas, silage & training to the community
- Partnered with Pedigree India for free of cost dog food for the strays

Responsible.
TACO has set out to transform the animal welfare ecosystem through a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach. TACO has teamed up with implementing agency YODA, to create a sustainable and scalable animal welfare ecosystem.
We have developed a holistic welfare program for animals in need. The project goes much beyond provision of sheltering and free medical services for animals. We work across a wide spectrum, ranging from medical research to capacity-building programs for professionals and animal handlers, from outreach and advocacy to expansion of TACO to different states. Ultimately, our objective is to create a safe, sustainable, and scalable ecosystem for animal welfare.
