Fuelling India’s energy needs
Driving growth sustainably
India is the third-largest consumer of oil in the world. The oil and gas industry is one of the core contributors to India's economic growth. The demand for oil and gas is expected to increase with a CAGR of 2.4% by 2030. Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta, aims to meet this rising demand and contribute to the vision of a self-reliant India. We have hooked up 74 new wells in FY'2021 to help the Government of India reach the milestone of reducing oil imports by 10%
While we are trying to make India one of the top exporters of oil across the world, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta, also has the vision to improve the quality of life of the communities we operate in. We have partnered with several reputed NGOs to deliver a real sustainable impact at the grassroots. With areas focusing on diverse aspects of society such as children’s well-being and education, women empowerment, healthcare, drinking water and sanitation, and many more, Vedanta aims to bring about holistic socio-economic development in the areas we operate in.
We are committed to help India achieve self-sufficiency in oil and gas by contributing 50% of the country’s domestic crude production. We remain focused on being the technological frontrunner by adopting advanced global technologies and innovations, enabling us to enhance recovery from existing fields, further our exploration vision and expand the scope for exploring unconventional fuels like shale. We strongly believe in India’s hydrocarbon potential and are consistently progressing towards actualizing our business mission. At present, attaining energy security in tandem with economic prosperity is a key concern for our country – and at Cairn, we are driving the most advanced solutions to achieve both these aims. Our ESG roadmap adequately complements our business vision of transforming energy responsibly and aims to achieve net-zero by 2050 while supporting the goal of developing a prosperous and self-reliant India.
