Our Sustainable Development Strategy
We believe that a business cannot be sustainable without a sustainable planet. Long-term sustainability of a business requires building strong relationships with the people it touches.
We have developed a sustainable development model & framework through incorporating the views of our stakeholders and best practices. At the heart of our strategy we have our Vision, Mission, Values and Code of Conduct lying on three sustainability pillars. The first supporting pillar is “Responsible Stewardship”. A continuous reduction in our Health, Safety & Environment footprint, application of best available technology, enhancing our corporate governance and communication will help us to embed sustainability in our business. The second pillar is “Building Strong Relationships”. Strengthening relationship with our different stakeholder groups, shareholders, lenders, employees, neighbouring communities, our industry, governments and interested third parties will be achieved by increasingly incorporating the views of our stakeholders in our activities. We believe that this will lead to the third pillar “Adding Value”, we hope to gain by ensuring that we continuously learn best practices from external partnerships and be able to support the enhancement of people’s lives and an a healthy planet.
This leads to a three-part process: first enhancing our governance and stewardship to international standards; then, more fully engaging with stakeholders to confirm issues of material importance to them; and finally, working to enhance the value we can bring to each of our stakeholder groups, in ways that suits different circumstances.
