Vedanta recognizes a young man's talent and encourages him to reach greater heights
Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu
In 2004 when Santhosh joined Vedanta Group as a Smelter process planner & controller at BALCO, little did he know that 8 years hence he would be heading the Precious Metals Business Division at Vedanta's Sterlite Copper, Thoothukudi.
In my career, I have had the privilege of working in numerous projects at BALCO, including SOP implementation, lithium modified bath, introduction of point feeders in Soderberg Cells and Pot Design. My close association with McKinsey consultants in BALCO Smelter has helped me gain industrial exposure to a large extent. Moreover, with the support of the consulting firm, I believe I have been able to make a significant contribution to the Group.
I started my journey at Sterlite Copper in 2010 and within 2 years I progressed up the ladder while always being the youngest achiever in my team. I suppose, Vedanta recognised my caliber to quickly understand and learn the requirements and processes in a business.
Even though I was academically an engineer, I was given the chance to take on managerial roles, thanks to my people skills and long term vision for the business. As a manager, I took it upon myself to mitigate risks in the business and to structure a long term roadmap for the company, while empowering my subordinates.
Santhosh attributes his success to the unique culture of Vedanta. He believes that he has been recognised by the company for his talent and potential rather than for years of experience he's spent in the organisation.
